The NURFC is made up of three buildings that symbolize the cornerstones of freedom: courage, cooperation, and perseverance. The Freedom Center's curving architecture reflects the winding river and the often-changing paths to freedom. Housed in Cincinnati, its location on the Ohio River puts it at the crossroads of the African-American freedom journey. In the 1800s, the city served as a major hub of activity on the Underground Railroad and its banks were a refuge to thousands of blacks seeking hope and a new way of life in America. Currently, as the home of the Freedom Center, it acts as a beacon of light once more. During the day of dedication, activities and events led up to the evening's Dedication Ceremony. For more information about the center, call 333-7500 or (877) 648-4838 toll-free. Call 333-7737 for a group tour. Reference: The Cincinnati Post, an E.W. Scripps newspaper Copyright 2004
